Where or what is the outer darkness described in Matthew 25?

"Outer darkness" is the darkness farthest from the light. In context, it is a place where there will be "weeping and gnashing of teeth" speaking of someone in extreme torment and suffering. Obviously this is a picture of Hell, and the servant is an unfaithful one, one who did not believe nor obey his master--a picture of an unbeliever.
