Questioner

When a church picks a search or pulpit committee for a new pastor should they be all men on the committee or both men and women on it?  Would it be the same as selecting a deacon board or would it be different ?

Answer

I believe the selecting of any Church leaders should be done only by men, for women are not to teach nor have authority over men in the context of the church (1 Tim 2:12), and selecting leadership positions in the church is part of the expression of church authority. Women's inputs would be very welcome, as are inputs from any member of the church who are not part of the actual search or pulpit committee.
