Question
According to the Bible what is wisdom and where does it come from?
Answer
Wisdom in the Old Testament was the Hebrew word "sakal" and means "to be circumspect and hence intelligent" God tells us where to get it:
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs
eternal praise." [Psalm 111:10]
"The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: for attaining wisdom and
discipline; for understanding words of insight." [Proverbs 1:2]
So you get true wisdom by fearing God, that is showing respect for who He is by simply reading and obeying His precious Words. Reading the Book of Proverbs and taking it to heart promises to fill a person with true wisdom.
