Question
I know a mother and father who believes their son has gotten a girl pregnant out of wedlock, and thus considers the baby under a curse and thus should be aborted, and says it is biblical to have the abortion. I believe that the how the baby was conceive was a sin, but the baby itself is a blessing from God. Please help me.
Answer
To start with the father's parents are absolutely
wrong and foolish in their thinking. Most likely they are simply trying to erase
the problem and the guilt of the sin that caused the pregnancy. They may want to
avoid any embarrassment they might experience because of the pregnancy, even at
the expense of committing murder to an helpless little baby in the safety and
security of its mother's womb. An abortion would make the mother, the father and
all those who agreed to it and encouraged it to all become guilty of the sin of
murder. And the Bible has something very clear to say about murderers:
"A man [or woman] tormented by the guilt of murder will be a fugitive till
death; let no one support him [or her]." [Proverbs 28:17]
"Outside [of heaven--in the Lake of fire] are the dogs, those who practice magic
arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers,
the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood." [Revelation
22:15]
Now, for another thing, since they claim that it is "biblical that the baby is
cursed and should be killed" make them give you the chapter and verse, and then
read it in its context--the burden of proof is on them to prove their claim from
the Bible.
I will tell you that the Bible is very clear that to kill a baby in the womb is
murder, even if it was unintentional, as indicated below, and demands the death
penalty:
"If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely
but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's
husband demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury, you are
to take life for life," [Exodus 21:22-23]
Certainly abortion is murder in the first degree. Here's an excellent sermon by
John MacArthur with all the scripture references that prove that Abortion is
murder:

Now, about the child being cursed....that is simply not true. We know that
in order for Jesus to be the Messiah that He had to be in the royal lineage all
the way back to Abraham. We see that royal line outlined in the beginning of the
Book of Matthew:
"A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham:
Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of
Judah and his brothers, Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was
Tamar.....[Matthew 1:1-3]
Now who was Tamar? Tamar was the daughter-in-law of Judah. Her husband died, and
to make a long story short, Judah, her father-in-law, went and had sexual
relations with her (thinking she was a prostitute) and got her pregnant (Gen
38:13). Tamar had twin boys out of wedlock, and the child, Perez, is listed in
the "royal line" of the Messiah. Perez was not cursed, and if he was aborted
because of some curse, then we would not have a Messiah, for the royal line
would have been broken.
