Question
Why is a woman supposed to submit to something that they are destined to supposedly have no say in? I am referring to the long essay you wrote about how the problem with marriages is women wanting to liberate. Why are we supposed to sit and watch while men control the world, and we keep our mouths, full of yearning opinions, shut?
Answer
The point of the essay is that God has ordained roles for men and women in
marriage. God has chosen the man to be the leader, provider, and protector of
the woman, even to the point of giving up his life to save hers if necessary.
The wife is to help the man in his responsibilities and to maintain the home and
raise the children. This does not mean that she is his slave in any respect, nor
does this imply that the man does not help his wife raise the children, since he
has special responsibilities in that area.
When it comes to making decisions it should be discussed by both and then the
best course of action chosen, no matter whose idea it may be. But if there is a
stalemate, then the husband makes the final call, but always with his wife's
needs and desires considered.
In God's sight the man and the woman are absolutely equal, but He has assigned
roles to effect a harmonious family. Christian marriage is to be a picture of
Christ and His Bride the Church, and as He leads, protects and provides for His
Church, so is the husband to lead, protect, and provide for his wife.
