Question

Why does God elect some to salvation and not elect others?

Answer

1. It was all a part of His will and plan:

"In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will." [Ephesians 1:11]

2. It brought Him pleasure to do it this way:

"He predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will" [Ephesians 1:5]

Every man and woman ever created or that will be created rejects Christ and are condemned to eternal torment, but God in His mercy chose "some" of the condemned sinners. It was His freewill choice. God could have chosen none and it would have been fair, but He was gracious and chose "some."
