Questioner
I am a homosexual young woman that has a close relationship to God. I love Him and will never deny His name as long I live. I understand what the scripture says about Homosexuality and I have done extensive research about WHEN it was written etc. I want to know why Christians are so easy to condemn us? Sin - and I know we need to strive a sinless life - is all the same right? No big or small sin? Why do most people who live together, but are not married get accepted in society, but gays are shut out? I was just wondering if you could shed MORE light on the topic? I know that I never chose to be what I am. I cannot deny it either so I decided to embrace it, but still not fall victim to a premiscuous life. I live a happy committed life with my partner.
Answer
It is true that the Church and many Christians pick the "big sins" to go after, and forget the rest.
However, there are few sins in the Bible that God especially hates:
1. The Sin of Unbelief in Christ - For it denies the extreme sacrifice of Christ for the salvation of sinners, and thus this sin is never forgiven once a person dies.
2. Murder (to include abortion) - For every man and woman is created in God's image, and murder is the ultimate destruction of a person ultimately made in God's image.
3. Homosexuality - God hates it because it rejects His plan and purpose of Marriage. It is a mockery of that wonderful gift of marriage that God created for one man and one woman. The very physical differences of a man and a woman clearly reveal that they were made for each other--to become one in spirit and body.
God declares that marriage is the "picture" He puts on display between Himself and his bride the Church. When a godly husband lovingly leads and provides and protects his wife, and when she lovingly submits to his leadership and helps him succeed in his life, then the picture is complete.
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy..." (Ephesians 5:25-26).
"...a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery–but I am talking about Christ and the church." (Ephesians 5:31-32)
But the homosexuals and the lesbians greatly mar that picture, for they present the 'bride loving another bride" and a "husband loving another husband" which is not God's design.
God clearly calls homosexuality "detestable" in the Bible, "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." (Leviticus 18:22), and the Bible also declares that "the plans of the Lord stand firm forever..." (Psalm 33:11)
God clearly states that no unrepenting, practicing homosexual or lesbian will ever enter heaven, but face eternal wrath. "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
I plead with you to turn, to repent of you sin of homosexuality, and believe that Jesus is who He claims to be, and submit to His Lordship over your life.
God did not create you a lesbian, but I will admit that all of us have a "bent towards evil" in our hearts, and that some are more prone to different sins....some desire to steal, others to pride, others to murder, and others to drunkenness and immorality. Some even have a desire for the same sex, but God declares all these things as sin, and promises us that we will never be tempted beyond what we can stand and He provides a way out...
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." (1Cor 10:13).
No one is created with a slavery to a sin, for God always provides us a way out of it.
Before I was saved, I was was involved in drunkenness and sexual immorality and God saved me and made me a new creation--the old life and desires were gone and a new life with new desires came.
No matter what you feel about your relationship now, I can guarantee you that it could never, ever, come even close to what God has in store for a man and woman in the sanctity of marriage--a Christian marriage.
