Question:
I am concerned about divorced people who remarry, knowing it is against God's will that they do this. Is this true?
Answer:
Remarriage is always possible after divorce, even for the guilty party (after
true repentance). God has planted in most of us a desire for marriage and
intimacy with the opposite sex. Through sin (ours and others) many
experience the trauma of divorce, and once the sin is confessed and a holy walk
is restored, then remarriage is permissible. Bottom line, God has called
us to live in peace, and doesn't want His children "burning with
passion" for that can easily lead to sin. But, reconciliation with the
former spouse is always the first option, if the former spouse has not remarried
or committed adultery.
